This is one of our most popular Social Care qualifications. The Level 3 Diploma in Children Care is an occupational qualification for learners who work in a Care Setting in England. The qualification is for where workers have key responsibilities for delivery of care and support and /or a level of supervisory.

This qualification provides an excellent platform for those candidates working in Childrens Residential care setting. The Level 3 is a possible progression route for candidates moving into supervisory or management roles.
Therefore this qualification would suit the following groups of people:

- Lead Children Care Worker
- Lead Personal Assistant
- Key Worker
- Senior Care Assistant
- Support Worker
This qualification may also suit personal assistants for individuals, or the families of those individuals, who employ them direct. Under management supervision.
Credits for this qualification
To achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), learners must achieve a minimum of 61 credits overall. 53 credits must be achieved from (301-316). Learners must also complete a minimum of 3 units from (317 – 323) to achieve a minimum of 8 credits.
How will the qualifications be assessed?
You will build up a portfolio of evidence. This will be in the form of written statements or ‘Reflective Accounts’ along with supporting work products you have produced.
An assessor will visit you in the workplace at some point and undertake observations of you at work. These will be planned in advance in order to cause the minimum disruption to your work routine and to try to capture as much information as possible in one visit.
You may also supply witness testimonies or statements from third parties who you work with. This may include supervisors or line manager or other suitably qualified individuals who understand your job role and the standards you have to meet to obtain this level of qualification. You have full uncapped support.
SVT have direct claim status on all of our care courses, this means you will get your Certificate within 21 days of your course completion and demonstrates the high standards we work to.
All Assessors are employed by SVT to ensure quality support and Delivery. We do not use freelance assessors.
On average most candidates will complete in 6 months. Some may take less depending on their personal circumstances and how much time they have to dedicate to the qualification. Either way we will work at a pace that suits you. Access is granted for 12 months. You will have full uncapped support
What are the progression routes?
On successful completion of this award you may progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children) and other short courses in the Care sector. Subject to support by management or in a management role.
You must be in employment in the care setting. This can be full, part-time or in a voluntary capacity.
The level 3 Diploma is not approved for those who are under the age of 18.

The Qualifications and Credit Framework (RQF Regulated Qualification Framework) is the way of recognising achievement through the awarding of credits for qualifications and individual units and applies to England.
